The tropical garden
A fruit garden dotted with orchids, palms and tropical flowers, bordered by the river. Lush vegetation changes with the seasons and is an essential part of the stay.

Fruit trees
Mangoes, bananas, citrus, lychees, tamarinds, star fruit, custard apples, avocados, pineapples, quenettes, mombins, coconuts and breadfruit: depending on the season, the garden is as much to taste as to admire.

The birds
Bananaquits at breakfast, bold grackles, melodious thrashers, kingfishers by the pond, noisy crows and watchful kestrels: each has its habits and character.

Hummingbirds
They often greet you on arrival, drawn to the nectar of tropical flowers. When a mother hummingbird protects her tiny nest, she also knows exactly how to ask visitors to keep their distance.

The frogs
By day the garden seems peaceful. At night it finds another voice. Take a torch and look at leaves, branches and paths: tiny frogs are all around you.

The waterfall
At the bottom of the garden, the river feeds a natural pool where you can cool off. Lift a stone gently and you may spot a freshwater ouassou; stand still and tiny fish may come and tickle your feet.

Sunsets
Facing the Caribbean Sea, the sky never repeats itself. Gold, orange, crimson… and on rare evenings, when conditions are perfect, you may find yourself waiting for the famous green flash.

Why Bouillante?
We chose Bouillante for its character, its nature and above all its people. Here hospitality is not a slogan: local people, small shops and village stories give the leeward coast a deeply Guadeloupean identity.

Hidden beaches
Towards Pointe Machette, follow the coast on foot beneath the trees before reaching a small wild beach: few people, turquoise water and the rare feeling of finding a place that was waiting just for you.

Walks & hikes
Trou à Diable, Queue de Cheval, Paradis and the coastal paths around Machette and Malendure: near Bouillante, walks move from rainforest to seashore within just a few kilometres.

Watching cetaceans
Dolphins feeding and playing beside the boat, an elusive sperm whale and, during migration season, the majestic silhouette of humpback whales: here, sometimes all you need to do is look out to sea.
